From your perspective, what is the biggest shift happening in HR outsourcing today?

Jenn’s Kansas City market has helped Syndeo learn in general that clients are moving away from tech-only based platforms and wanting more strategic partnerships.
Wichita historically were outsourcing for the first time. Tech is in such high demand and people are wanting to operate faster, more efficiently with less people, but still want that strategic parter (person, human in the HR) – we put the human in Human Resources.

Which emerging trends do you believe will shape the HR outsourcing industry over the next 3–5 years?

The experience in knowing how to handle people is a driver for the decision making in the HR outsourcing process.
HR holds people up and it makes an impact in retention and staff and errors made – overarching theme was that the trend is experience as the driver for company success and internal retention – you need the tech piece but you need the human touch first and most importantly.

How has the role of HR outsourcing evolved as organizations face more complex workforce challenges?

There’s evolving compliance, state, federal etc., but landscape of where companies find their people has now changed so you have to have technology in order to onboard your workforce. It’s not just about onboarding and offboarding or the employee lifecycles, it’s also about navigating the complexities of where people are located. This is challenging for organizations who have always had employees in one location and then they hire people sprinkled all around.

What forces (technology, labor laws, workforce expectations, etc.) do you think are driving changes in the HR outsourcing landscape?

The tools and the need or desire to have integration – the easy button. The accessibility, speed, integration and tools, and expertise.

How do you see HR outsourcing adapting to support organizations with locations in various states?

Answered above, but also being able to couple that with our delivery of services with our client service teams. While tech and the ability to offer multi state compliance, the tech is like the guardrails of the bowling lanes, coupled with our client service team, which make you get the strike.


The Role of Technology in Modern HR Outsourcing

What HR technologies do you think are becoming “must-have” for organizations outsourcing HR?

HRIS, reporting platforms, Companies want to dive more into making intentional cultures and that is done through performance management and learning management systems, integrated vendors, electric onboarding capabilities.

How is automation influencing the delivery of outsourced HR services today?

Quick and efficient, frees up time, so they can spend meaningful time acclimating a new hire and not doing paperwork.
Coupled with a support team who helps with the really important onboarding meeting for our clients, benefits enrollment, onboarding PowerPoints or videos, etc.

What benefits do clients gain from having integrated HR technology as part of their outsourcing partnership?

Answered in questions above. Expand on the fact that we are helping guide trends with the technology – new vendor partnerships, new releases, we are at the forefront of what’s going to be important for our clients. We help our clients understand the systems, and clients are system curious. We go out there and make them feel comfortable, teach them new things, etc.


How do you balance the efficiency of digital solutions with the need for personalization in HR?

We view technology as the foundation; it’s not our overall experience. Our team is fantastic at deploying tools but still provides a personal response and guidance to our clients.

We do provide the human touch – we don’t give you technology and leave it up to them to figure it out. We are continuously helping them. We are happy to share advancements and technology when there’s’ a need and at the same time, open to hear feedback when they are a success or not. We let our clients try new things.

Catholic Charities – Humanity Time scheduler, they tested it and didn’t like it and then we moved on.

What feedback do clients give most often about the human side of our services?

We operate with empathy, and that is something that technology cannot do.

What skills will HR leaders need as technology continues to transform HR operations?

Managers and leaders also have to be system savvy but also prioritize that connection.

What advice would you give organizations looking to modernize their HR through outsourcing?

You can’t settle for the best technology because it will always advance and you have to equally value the PEO partnership and technology.

What investments should companies make today to stay ahead of HR challenges tomorrow?
Don’t settle for a piece of technology that isn’t going to expand or grow – invest in a piece of technology that will expand and grow and modernize over time. We help guide this ship for them.

If you could predict one major HR outsourcing breakthrough we'll see in the next decade, what would it be?
HR outsourcing becoming a better-known thing and remains as the essential core of the business.

How has the HR outsourcing industry changed since you started working in it?

Just the technology alone is a world of a difference. As technological advancements have happened, we’ve had to drag clients into that new world and force them to do electronic onboarding and now we are required to also deliver advanced technology to those who are just savvy as we are on the onboarding side. Not only do we have to deliver, we have to educate and train with modern HR technology.
